Let’s get stuck in. You don’t know what craft lager is? That’s fine. We’ve got your back.

Craft beer is a type of drink that originated in the US during the 1970s. Craft beers are not mass-produced, meaning they do not come from big corporations like Heineken or Budweiser. Craft lager also has more flavour than regular lagers as it contains an ale yeast instead of traditional bottom-fermenting yeast.

What is the difference between craft beer and lager?

Craft beer and craft lager are often mentioned in the same breath but they are different.

Craft beer is a type of lager that has more flavour and isn’t mass-produced. Craft beers are made with ale yeast which gives it the added flavour, while regular lagers use bottom fermenting yeasts to produce their drink.

Why does everyone want to drink it?

Craft beers are popular because people enjoy the taste of them and they provide more flavour than traditional lagers. They also come in various different flavours and contain less chemicals like standard beers and lagers. This handy craft beer for beginners guide means you are already hooked 😉

The origins of craft beer

So where did it all start? What’s the history of craft beers and lagers?

We can pinpoint the origins of craft beer to a few different time periods.

The first mention of ‘steam’ beers in America is from 1857, but they were only popular for around 50 years and then became obsolete when Prohibition came into effect.

American microbreweries also started popping up in the early 1980s because people wanted more flavourful drinks with less chemicals than regular lagers. In 1989 Fritz Maytag took over Anchor Brewing Company and made it one of the most famous American breweries producing craft brews today.

How does it taste?

Craft beers have much more complex flavours that traditional beers or lagers such as hops, grains, yeast flavours etc which all come together to create this unique drink we call craft beer!

So what are hops and grains and how are they used in the brewing process?

There are a variety of hops used in craft beer brewing. Hops provide bitterness, flavour and aroma to the brew. The flavours can be subtle or intense depending on where they were grown and how they’re dried (i.e.. wet-hopped).

Grains come from cereal plants such as barley which is malted for giving it its malty taste – this means that we soak them in water until the grain starts creating sugar before being heated up so all of the natural sugars will turn into alcohol! Grains also give colouring as well as body to your drink too. Malt is just one type of grains there are others like wheat, rye and oats but malt remains most popular because it’s perfect for pale ales etc

How is yeast used in the process of brewing craft lagers and beers?

Yeast was the third ingredient used to make beer. Yeast turns sugar into alcohol and carbon dioxide, which bubbles up from the bottom of a container during fermentation. Fermentation lasts for anything between one day and two weeks depending on how much yeast has been added.”

What can you do with craft beers?

There are many delicious ways you can enjoy your craft beers such as it being consumed cold or warm in pubs, restaurants and at home too! You could also have them alongside food like pizza – this would be perfect because both taste incredible together! Although if we’re talking about pairing craft lagers then that would most likely be something more savoury than sweet so maybe try steak or pasta dishes!

How do you brew Craft Lagers?

Brewing beer at home became popular in the last century and this was because people wanted to make their own drink but there were some laws that made it difficult for them to do so so they just started brewing themselves instead! Craft beers are different from other styles as you can find all sorts of ingredients being used which range from fruits, grains, vegetables or herbs – giving these drinks a more unique taste than most standard types of lager!

The brewing process for all lager requires four general steps: mashing (which converts starch from grain into fermentable sugars), boiling with hops, fermentation by yeast at low temperatures such as those produced naturally in caves.

Remember to drink responsibly.
